NeuroSell:
How We Are Pushed to Buy
A course and booklet that teach you to spot marketing tricks and neutralize them.
Project idea
Your mind is not a point of sale. In the digital world, advertising often presses on emotions, fear of missing out, and “social proof.” We gathered clear examples and antidotes so that your decisions stay yours, not something imposed by marketers.
How it works
1. Catch the trick
“Today only!”, “only 2 left”, “season hit”, “everyone bought it” — these are not random phrases.
2. Name it
When you realize that you are facing scarcity/FOMO, herd behavior, or authority, the manipulation becomes weaker.
3. Apply the antidote
The 24-hour rule, checking independent reviews, and asking “Would I buy this without the hype?” help you take control back.
Quick checklist before buying
Am I rushing?
If you see a “timer,” “last chance,” or “promo code expires,” pause and close the tab.
Am I just following the crowd?
“10,000 bought this,” “customers’ choice” — this may be bait. Check alternatives.
Do I really need this?
Ask yourself: would I buy this without the discount, free gift, or influencer? If not, someone is probably steering you.
